Back in 2015 Decoy Media photographed the 8th Congress of Polish Student Societies in the UK when it was held in venues in Lancaster and Manchester. After that edition of the event we received incredible feedback that we had provided the best images in the Congress’ history. Unfortunately we were fully booked during the 2016 edition, but fast forward to 2017 and we were tasked with covering the event once again, in it’s latest home of various venues within Cambridgeshire.
The event is of course designed to bring together student societies from different universities across the UK, but also attracts speakers and delegates across from Poland for the occasion. The event was comprised of a mix of speeches, seminars and workshops, all held within the Old Divinity School, St John's College in Cambridge and St Paul's in Cambridge.
The venues and surrounding areas of Cambridge are an incredible backdrop for an event of this kind, steeped in history and highly ornate both inside and out.
Some of the topics covered included a workshop in public speaking, a debate on art & society, a discussion panel on business, debate on foreign policy and a panel discussing xenophobia.
The finale of the congress was a ball at Hinchingbrooke House in Huntingdon. This included entertainment from a magician and casino tables amongst closing speeches to wrap up the Congress.
