Event Photographer Manchester
It was an honour to be asked by our regular client Castle Fine Art to be an event photographer at the stunning Manchester Central Library. Paired with this iconic venue was a fantastic collection of art by painter Scarlett Raven and digital artist Marc Marot adding an augmented reality twist.
We started the commercial photography project by setting the scene with some exterior photos of the library building and then moved inside to capture wide angle images and detail shots of the exhibition itself. For this special install plain white walls and neat title cards were thrown out for a truly immersive set design that took inspiration from the first world war theme of the show. It was an amazing sight and made for some fantastic pictures. Plenty of colours in the bright poppies, textures in the crumbling walls and contrast with stylised lighting.
After a handful of portraits of the artists, a reception room downstairs was filling with invited guests enjoying a prosecco and canapés arrival. VIPs including the Managing Director of Castle Fine Art Ian Weatherby-Blythe and former Lord Mayor of Manchester Carl Austin-Behan, who both addressed the room and acknowledged the sentiment of the exhibit.
The guests then made their way up to The Danger Tree show, which is named after the last tree left standing in the battlefield after the fighting ended in 1918. Using supplied iPads and headphones people made their way around the room taking in the art, the added augmented reality layer along with the sounds of the time and poems read with relating paintings.
Our brief was to produce marketing materials to promote the exhibition as it continued its UK tour including a focus on guests interacting through the use of the new technology on offer. We received great feedback from our client Castle Fine Art and loved working in the library building again.
