My name is Alex Mead and I am a professional Photographer that specialises in commercial / corporate, music and wedding related work. I work nationwide, mainly around Manchester and London, and occasionally abroad in Europe or internationally.
I was interested in photography from an early age, moving from a Kodak point and shoot 35mm film camera to my first digital camera at around the age of 13.
From there my interest developed into an education in related subjects including an AS level in Photography, an A level in Media Studies and starting a BSc in Film Production Technology at Staffordshire University. The course was weighted towards practical assignments and as I developed through my studies I took every opportunity to draw influence into my film projects from famous photographers.
In 2010 I started photographing club events at the local Students’ Union venue every week and although at first (I can now see) I was shit, I developed a unique style.
In the summer of 2011 I graduated from university and formed Decoy Media with a fellow student, offering services of commercial, music and wedding photography and films. We pitched for the Enterprise Fellowship Scheme graduate business start up programme. We were one of 15 companies chosen to receive training, mentoring and funding from the European Regional Development Fund (EDRF).
Since 2011 myself as a professional, along with Decoy Media have grown year on year, accelerated by a move to Manchester in 2012. In January 2015 I quit my job and started working on Decoy Media full time.
Decoy Media now consists of myself and a team of professionals that I trust to deliver the quality of end product and service that our brand has been built around. We capture high quality images, delivered with professional service and a friendly approach. Utilising years of experience, industry standard equipment and the latest in post production techniques guarantees our clients are always satisfied.
We work with clients in the commercial / corporate and music industries, including names such as Barclaycard, Boots, Desperados, Fabric, Hospital Records, Outlook Festival, Red Bull, The Warehouse Project, Topman, Vans and Wickes.
Alongside this, since 2012 we have been photographing weddings, this has developed into a unique, clean, modern and timeless style that captures moments perfectly whilst being as creative as possible.
Our work has taken us to Croatia, Israel, Spain and Switzerland so far, we look forward to adding to this list as our striking images reach even further around the world.
Travel is a keen passion of mine and a trip away is never treated as a break from being away from behind a camera...
